A Journey Rooted in Passion and Purpose

Our story begins in the quiet village of Kallikudi in Madurai district of Tamil Nadu, where Tamilselvi, a dedicated schoolteacher and administrator, found herself on an unexpected path toward entrepreneurship. Her journey started with a simple yet powerful goal: to revive the tradition of millets in every meal.

Tamilselvi's inspiration came from her personal life—when her husband was recovering from an accident, she sought out nutritious, natural foods to aid his healing. That's when she rediscovered millets, the ancient nutritional treasures that had once been a staple in Tamil households. Seeing their immense benefits, she started preparing value-added millet-based products at home.

Encouraged by overwhelming support from her family and neighbors, she took the leap from home kitchen to business. Tamil Foods was born—not just as a brand, but as a mission to make nutritious, all-natural millet products a part of modern Indian diets.

The Growth of Tamil Foods

From a Small Venture to a Household Name

Tamilselvi, with her strong academic background (M.A., M.Sc., M.Ed., and M.Phil), had the discipline to learn and adapt. But the business world was a whole new challenge. She officially started Tamil Foods in 2015. Determined to scale up, she secured funding from the Khadi and Village Industries Commission (KVIC) in Madurai and set up a dedicated production unit in her village.

Today, Tamil Foods proudly offers over 80+ varieties of millet-based products, with a strong commitment to pure, natural ingredients and zero chemical additives. Tamil Foods has rapidly expanded its reach under the leadership of Mr. Venkatesh Kumar, with products now available across Tamil Nadu and nearby states.
