Our story begins in the quiet village of Kallikudi in Madurai district of Tamil Nadu, where Tamilselvi, a dedicated schoolteacher and administrator, found herself on an unexpected path toward entrepreneurship. Her journey started with a simple yet powerful goal: to revive the tradition of millets in every meal.
Tamilselvi's inspiration came from her personal life—when her husband was recovering from an accident, she sought out nutritious, natural foods to aid his healing. That's when she rediscovered millets, the ancient nutritional treasures that had once been a staple in Tamil households. Seeing their immense benefits, she started preparing value-added millet-based products at home.
Encouraged by overwhelming support from her family and neighbors, she took the leap from home kitchen to business. Tamil Foods was born—not just as a brand, but as a mission to make nutritious, all-natural millet products a part of modern Indian diets.
